Cailie Logue named ISU Athlete of the Year
AMES — Iowa State junior Cailie Logue earned the honor of Celia Barquin Arozamena Women’s Athlete of the Year for 2019, the school announced Thursday. Logue was an All-American and a Big 12 champion in 2019, winning in cross country and the 3,000 and 5,000-meter indoor track events.
Logue finished 15th in the NCAA Cross Country Championships and had qualified for the NCAA Indoor Women’s Track and Field Championships in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter events before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.
Logue is the first athlete to receive the award after it was named in honor of the late Barquin Arozamena following her death in 2018.
