Hensons 2nd in Iowa Junior event

One day after wrapping up her third-straight Times-Republican City Golf Championship, Marshalltown’s Amber Henson made her way to second place in her division of the Iowa Junior Open at Blue Top Ridge in Riverside.

Henson shot a two-day, 36-hole total of 82-78–160 to finish three strokes behind Eden Lohrbach of Ames in the Iowa PGA Junior Tour’s main event. Henson closed out her final round Sunday at Elmwood Country Club and left immediately for Riverside on her way to a runner-up finish in the girls’ 14-15 division.

A junior-to-be at Marshalltown High School, Henson carded a pair of birdies on the second day. She currently stands second in the Player of the Year standings for her age group.

Natalie Henson, Amber’s younger sister, shot 45-42–87 to tie for second place in the girls’ 13-and-under division on Sunday and Monday at Amana Colonies Golf Club in Amana. Natalie tied with Morgan Rupp of Marion for second, as both trailed Saleah Vivanh-Vong of Des Moines by five strokes.

Isaiah Zoske of Marshalltown came away with fifth place in the boys’ 12-13 division after shooting 89-78–167 on Sunday and Monday in Riverside. Zoske rallied in the second round with three birdies to help him maintain his lead in the division’s Player of the Year standings.
