Nate Vance flourished in his time with the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team, but he's found a new home after receiving an offer he couldn't turn down.
Vance recently announced on his Twitter page that he has accepted an offer to transfer to Iowa State University next semester, and will do so after making the most out of his first two seasons of collegiate golf in the Windy City.
Vance, a 2018 Marshalltown High School graduate, set a single-season program record at Loyola with his 72.2 stroke average in his sophomore campaign. He was an all-Missouri Valley Conference selection, a first-team MVC Scholar-Athlete and a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Vance, who was majoring in finance at Loyola, produced 11 competitive rounds of golf at or below par as a member of the Ramblers' golf squad while finishing in the top-10 four times. His best result came at Drake University's Zach Johnson Invitational last fall at Glen Oaks Country Club in Des Moines, when he helped Loyola claim its first team win since 2014-15.
He thanked the Rambler program for the opportunity they gave him out of high school, but couldn't resist the chance to come back to his home state.
"I can't thank Coach (Erik) Hoops and Loyola Chicago enough for all the support and my teammates for the lifelong memories," Vance said in his tweet. "Representing Iowa State and playing for Coach (Andrew) Tank and Coach (Chad) Keohane is a dream come true. I can't wait to be a Cyclone!"
Vance capped his Bobcat career by helping Marshalltown's boys' golf squad win the Class 4A state title in 2017 thanks in part to his meet medalist performance.
