MHS netters silenced by Centennial
ANKENY — The Marshalltown girls’ tennis team suffered its first shutout loss of the spring season, falling 11-0 to fourth-ranked Ankeny Centennial on Thursday night.
The Bobcats (0-5) had won at least two matches in every meet prior to this particular road trip. Ankeny Centennial blanked the Bobcats in the top four singles matches and another 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 doubles. All 11 contests were straight-set victories for the host Jaguars.
Marshalltown’s No. 5 doubles team of Chesni Uhde and Rylie McMullen got more games from their Centennial opponents than any other Bobcats, falling 6-3, 6-1.
MHS returns to action Tuesday, traveling to face Des Moines North.
