Comet girls, Spartan boys win golf triangular

The BCLUW girls’ golf team won a home triangular on Friday at South Hardin Recreation Area in Union, beating Grundy Center and GMG. Lindsay Beeghly claimed runner-up medalist honors for the Comets, shooting a 46. Grundy Center’s Abbie Lindeman was the meet medalist with her 44. BCLUW shot 200, Grundy Center 204 and GMG 274.

BCLUW’s other scoring rounds included 50s from Brooklyn Backoff and Maleah Jones and a 54 from Sydney Anderson. GMG was led by Mariah Wood with a 55, Maya Goos shot 58, and Lily Harris had a 62.

On the boys’ side, Grundy Center swept the medals at Oakwood Golf Course in Conrad, shooting a 153 to win the triangular. BCLUW carded a 185 and GMG shot a 217.

Dexter Whitehill shot a 34 and Ashton Martens a 37 to lead Grundy Center to victory. Ray Callaway carded a 38 to pace BCLUW, and Dylan Cooper’s round of 50 was low for GMG.
