Cedar Rapids Xavier’s Kaitlin Hotchkiss and Charlie Allen shared the second-best round with Linn-Mar’s Tatum Depuydt and Dillon Burr at 77, while a 78 from Southeast Polk’s Rylin Davidson and Jack Wahman went for fourth place.

Henson, who tied for seventh place in the recent Class 4A girls’ state golf tournament at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ames, teamed with Schmit for a 42 on the front nine at Elmwood and a 43 on the back side. Wilson and Polley put down a 46 for the front half and a 48 on the back nine.

Comets tie for 16th in 1A

The BCLUW pair of freshman Sydney Anderson and junior Ray Callaway came away tied for 16th place at the Class 1A State Co-Ed Golf Championships on Tuesday at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course.

The Comet duo played to an alternate-shot score of 86 as the only local representatives in the 1A field in Marshalltown.

Clear Lake teams claimed the top two spots in 1A with both tandems shooting 6-over-par 76 for the day. Freshman Meghan DeLong and junior Easton DeVries finished ahead of their teammates Rebecca DeLong, a sophomore, and Andrew Crane, a senior, on a cardback.
