Megan Meyer

DES MOINES — Mason City native and University of Iowa transfer Megan Meyer has joined the Drake women’s basketball team, head coach Allison Pohlman announced Thursday.

“We’re ecstatic to add Megan to our team!” Pohlman said. “She is a versatile shooting guard with a high motor that has a tremendous basketball IQ. She really fits our up-tempo style of play and is an outstanding addition to our culture.”

Meyer, a 5-8 guard, played two seasons for the Hawkeyes and appeared in 40 games. Last season she saw action in 29 of 30 games, averaging 8.8 minutes and 2.3 points per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field.

Meyer was a four-year standout for Mason City High School helping the Mohawks win a Class 4A state title in 2016 and qualify for the state tournament all four seasons. She scored nearly 1,900 career points.
