DES MOINES — Drake men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries has announced the addition of Achoki Moikobu to his staff as an assistant coach.

Moikobu joins the Bulldogs after a season on the staff at Grand Canyon University, where he helped the Antelopes to the 2021 Western Athletic Conference title and first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Moikobu served as GCU’s director of recruiting and helped assemble a roster that transformed a 13-17 team into one that went 17-7 in 2020-21.

He spent the previous six years as the postgraduate head coach at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan., where he coached 28 future NCAA Division I players.
