Former Bobcat breaks Kirkwood golf record

JD Pollard

Marshalltown High School graduate JD Pollard recently broke the 18-hole scoring record at Kirkwood Community College, helping the Eagles to a team title at the Wartburg Fall Invitational.

Pollard picked up medalist honors for his round of 78-63–141, edging out teammate Brandon McCarty for first place while breaking the Kirkwood 18-hole scoring record by three strokes. The Eagles finished first with a 576 team score — just 8-over-par — and distanced themselves from runner-up Hawkeye CC (601) in the seven-team tournament.

Pollard’s round of 63 at Prairie Links Golf Course also earned him the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s Men’s Golfer of the Week honor, his second such award in the month of September.

Pollard is a 2019 graduate of MHS.
