SPORTS SHORTS: No. 10 Trojans rally past Tigers

ELDORA — Katy Reyerson racked up another double-double and the Class 3A No. 10 West Marshall girls’ basketball team rallied past South Hardin for a 39-33 victory on Monday night.

The Trojans (3-0) trailed 17-13 at halftime before outscoring their hosts 26-16 after the break. Reyerson finished with team-highs of 16 points, 12 rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Bella Borgos chipped in 14 points, and Lili Zahnd added seven points, five rebounds and two steals.

Alli Sheldahl led South Hardin (1-1) with 12 points.

West Marshall is back in action Friday with a Heart of Iowa Conference home game against Saydel.

West Marshall beaten at the buzzer

ELDORA — Jake Teske’s 3-pointer at the buzzer was the decisive blow as South Hardin outlasted the West Marshall boys’ basketball team in Monday’s season opener, 67-65.

Joey Tollefson’s 3-pointer with seven seconds left had given the Trojans a 65-64 lead, but South Hardin had the magic to match it at the buzzer.

Teske and Ryan Walters scored 21 points apiece to lead the Tigers, and Mason Sheldahl added 17 more.

Tollefson finished with a career-high 29 points for the Trojans, adding on five assists and two steals.

Parker Reese contributed 12 points and five rebounds, and TJ Schuler had eight points and six boards. Grahm Nason added six points.

West Marshall visits Iowa Falls-Alden tonight.
