BIG FOUR ROUND-UP: Murray’s career-high 37 propels Iowa

IOWA CITY — Sophomore Keegan Murray scored a career-high 37 points to power Iowa to a 98-75 romp over Nebraska on Sunday.
Murray sank 15 of 21 shots — 3 of 4 from 3-point range — and made 4 of 5 foul shots for the Hawkeyes (17-7, 7-6 Big Ten Conference).
Murray had 24 first-half points and Payton Sandfort came off the bench to score 10 to lead Iowa to a 53-25 lead at intermission. Murray topped his career high on a driving layup with 5:28 remaining in the game, giving the Hawkeyes an 86-63 lead. He subbed out with 3:23 to go. His previous high was 35 points, set four times, including twice as a freshman.
Sandfort finished with 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Kris Murray, the twin brother of Keegan, added 12 points and seven boards off the bench. Bohannon hit two 3-pointers and scored 10.
Derrick Walker had 14 points and six rebounds to pace Nebraska (7-18, 1-13). Bryce McGowens added 11 points, while reserve Eduardo Andre scored 10.
Loyola pushes aside Panthers 85-58
CHICAGO — Lucas Williamson posted 18 points and six assists as Loyola Chicago routed Northern Iowa 85-58 on Sunday.
Aher Uguak had 17 points for Loyola Chicago (19-5, 10-3 Missouri Valley Conference). Chris Knight added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Northern Iowa scored 23 points in the second half, a season low for the team.
AJ Green had 20 points for the Panthers (14-10, 10-4), whose five-game win streak was snapped. Trae Berhow added 10 points.
Noah Carter, the Panthers’ second leading scorer heading into the contest at 14 points per game, shot only 17 percent for the game (1 of 6).
Hawkeyes win in rout at the Ballpark
ARLINGTON, Texas — The second-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team defeated No. 12 Oklahoma State, 23-9, on Saturday in the inaugural Bout at the Ballpark at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers.
The Hawkeyes won seven of 10 matches, picked up a pair of bonus-point wins and held a 16-7 advantage in takedowns to hand the Cowboys their sixth loss in the last eight series meetings.
“We’re still getting better as a team and that’s probably the thing that I’m looking at, individual matches and where we’re headed in the season,” said Iowa head coach Tom Brands. “Our guys won some tough matches with some tough wrestling. I think we’re still getting better and I know we have to continue to get better.”
Oklahoma State jumped in front of Iowa, 6-0, with decisions at 125 and 133. Jesse Ybarra surrendered a takedown in the final seconds to drop a 6-5 decision to seventh-ranked Trevor Mastrogiovanni, and second-ranked Daton Fix topped third-ranked Austin DeSanto, 5-3, at 133.
Iowa climbed back with wins at 141, 149 and 157 to take a 9-6 lead at intermission. Jaydin Eierman put Iowa on the board with a 6-1 decision at 141; Max Murin used a first-period takedown to win 5-2 at 149; and Kaleb Young put Iowa in front for good with a 4-1 decision at 157.
Joens scores 32, No. 9 ISU rip TCU
FORT WORTH, Texas — Ashley Joens had a season-high 32 points with 14 rebounds, and the No. 9 Iowa State women beat TCU 93-70 on Saturday for their fifth consecutive win.
Lexi Donarski scored 16 points while combining with Joens to go 10 of 20 from 3-point range as the Big 12-leading Cyclones (21-3, 10-2) went 19 of 36 from deep.
After hitting all six of her 3s when Iowa State beat Oklahoma State in its most recent game a week ago, Emily Ryan was 4 of 6 behind the arc with a career-high 17 assists.
Lauren Heard had 17 points and seven assists for the Horned Frogs (6-15, 2-10), who matched their longest losing streak in five years with a seventh straight loss.
K-State overtakes Cyclones in OT
AMES — Markquis Nowell scored five of his 16 points in overtime and Kansas State rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit to beat the host Iowa State men’s basketball team, 75-69, on Saturday.
Nowell made three 3-pointers and had six assists. Nijel Pack made four 3-pointers and scored 19 points. Mark Smith added 15 points and nine rebounds and Ismael Massoud scored 11 points for the Wildcats (13-11, 5-7 Big 12).
Izaiah Brockington scored 27 points with seven rebounds to lead the Cyclones (16-,9 3-9), who have lost four straight. Washington State transfer Aljaz Kunc made his first start for Iowa State and made five 3-pointers, scoring 16 of his 19 points in the first half.
