Isaac Clark

COLO — The seventh-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck football team racked up more than 500 yards of total offense to close out the regular season with a 66-14 romp over Collins-Maxwell in Friday’s 8-Man District 4 contest.

The Rebels (7-1, 4-1) jumped out to a 52-6 lead by halftime and cruised to the victory having already sealed a spot in the state football playoffs. G-R compiled 509 yards of offense — 233 rushing and 276 passing — while limiting the Spartans to 124 total yards.

G-R quarterback Isaac Clark completed all nine pass attempts for 267 yards and four touchdowns. He hooked up with Austin Vaverka five times for 99 yards and a touchdown, while Drew Eilers caught two balls for 106 yards and another score. Luke Riffey’s only catch was a 58-yard touchdown reception, and Aiden Hunemuller had a 4-yard TD grab.

Hudson Clark led the Rebel ground game, carrying seven times for 87 yards with three touchdowns, and Vaverka added 78 rushing yards on just four carries. Clark added a touchdown run to his tally.

Cooper Wierson was 10-of-21 passing for 101 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for Collins-Maxwell (3-4, 2-3), which has a road game against Grand View Christian next Friday. The Spartans’ home games were played in Colo this season due to construction on Collins-Maxwell’s athletic complex.
