INDIANOLA -- The Marshalltown boys' swimming squad won eight of 11 events and marched to a 105-65 victory over host Indianola on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats blasted past the Indians by dominating in individual events, winning seven of the eight races and even sweeping four of them.
Lincoln Barker was a three-event champion for Marshalltown, swimming to meet titles in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle. He also was a part of the Bobcats' triumphant 400-yard freestyle relay, joining Carter Hunt, Charles Gilbertson and Sam Greazel to finish out the meet in style with a time of 3 minutes, 32.04 seconds.
"This is our fourth meet in eight days, so that's asking a lot," said MHS head coach Mike Loupee. "It's one more time into the fire on such a quick turnaround, it's asking a lot of the kids and with that they held up really well."
Marshalltown chalked up 23 season-best times and 16 lifetime bests.
Greazel, Gilbertson and Hunt each logged one individual event win in addition to their place on the 400 freestyle relay. Hunt won the 100 freestyle in his return to the lineup, Greazel claimed the 200 individual medley, and Gilbertson claimed the 100 butterfly.
Dane Petty also returned to the top of the podium in the 100 backstroke, winning with a time of 56.53 seconds.
The Bobcats take a week and a half to prepare for their district meet, which will be held Feb. 4 at Ames High School.
