Trojan duo tabbed to HOIAC first team
West Marshall senior standout Katy Reyerson three-peated on the all-Heart of Iowa Conference first team and sophomore guard Bella Borgos repeated as the Trojan girls’ basketball team stormed to its second-straight league title.
West Marshall had a three-game cushion in winning this year’s conference crown with a 13-1 record, and the Trojans’ dynamic duo had a lot to do with that. In Heart of Iowa Conference play, Reyerson led the league in scoring average (19.7 points per game) and Borgos finished fourth (17.9).
Reyerson actually lead the HOIAC in scoring, rebounding (11.9) assists (6.4) and blocks (3.2) per game. She was fourth in the league in steals per game (3.1).
Borgos, meanwhile, was second in steals per game (3.6) and trailed only Reyerson (58.1) in field goal percentage (52.9).
West Marshall senior guard Keatan Pfantz picked up second-team all-HOIAC honors for the third year in a row. Pfantz averaged 8.7 points per game and ranked third in the conference with 27 3-pointers made.
Trojan senior Lauren Solberg and sophomore Lily Zahnd both repeated as honorable mention selections. Solberg was third on the team and 13th in the conference in rebounding average (5.6) while Zahnd was second on the squad and eighth in the league (6.9). Zahnd averaged 6.0 points per game and Solberg got 5.7 in HOIAC play.
