UNI’s Arends earns MVFC weekly honor

Chase Arends

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Northern Iowa offensive lineman Chase Arends has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference’s Offensive Lineman of the Week. This is Arend’s first MVFC honor of his career and the first for the Panthers this season.

Arends, a redshirt senior from Cedar Falls, played a critical role in the 41-17 Panther victory over Idaho State on Saturday, helping anchor an offensive line that did not allow a sack in the game. Quarterback Theo Day recorded a career-high 388 passing yards and two touchdowns including a 53-yard touchdown pass to Sam Schnee.

Arends has started all three games for UNI at the center position this season and was named a captain after a team vote prior to the season kickoff.
