SPORTS SHORTS: Bobcats pile up seven pins to flatten Lincoln

DES MOINES — Marshalltown wrestling picked up plenty of extra points to rumble past Des Moines Lincoln, 55-18, in Iowa Alliance action at Lincoln High School on Thursday night.

The Bobcats recorded seven victories by pinfall as well as one forfeit victory to cruise to the win.

Xayvion Anderson (165), Dalton Zednichek (175), Michael Narvaez Correa (190), Luis Valdez (285), Lucas Bantz (126), Nicholas Wise (132) and Kenton Niehouse (150) all put their opponents’ shoulders on the mat for six Bobcat points. Johan Gomez added a 13-4 major decision at 215 and Ivan Pantoja was a 12-6 winner at 138.

MHS heads to a Saydel tournament on Saturday.

Trojan boys wrestling sweep home meet

STATE CENTER — West Marshall boys wrestling defeated Greene County and Roland-Story in a Heart of Iowa triangular at West Marshall High School on Thursday.

The Trojans beat Greene County, 54-21; and topped Roland-Story, 50-26.

Ben Buck (132), Kinnick Geers (144), Dillon McMorran (157), Gage Sawyer (215) and Jon Gonzalez (113) earned pins against Greene County; Shane Hanford (138), Evan Meester (190), Skylar Hanford (285) and Jack Decker (120) won by forfeit.

Roland-Story led 27-24 after nine weights, but a 10-5 decision for James Decker at 106 pounds started a five-match winning streak to beat back the Norse. Hanford, Geers, McMorran, Ben Gonzalez, Jon Gonzalez, Jack Decker (120), Landin Eggers (126) and Buck all won by fall.

Redhawk boys split at AGWSR

ACKLEY — North Tama boys wrestling defeated Waterloo Columbus but lost to Thursday’s triangular hosts at AGWSR High School.

The Redhawks won 42-24 against the Sailors; the Cougars defeated North Tama, 42-27.

All three schools had small lineups on Thursday; North Tama and Columbus each received three forfeits in their dual, with the Redhawks going 4-1 in head-to-head matches. Gavin Rausch (157), Drake Podhajsky (165), Drayke Dvorak (113) and Kane Kucera (138) won by fall and Maxon Monat, Stone Tarrancy and Kolt Knaack received wins by forfeit.

North Tama had five forfeits against AGWSR but won four of the six head-to-head matches. Kucera, Knaack and Podhajsky had pinfall wins and Drayke Dvorak scored a 12-10 win in sudden victory with Brady Abbas.

In girls action, North Tama defeated AGWSR 36-12. Grace Dvorak (110) and Briar Blake (170) won head-to-head bouts and Olivia Youngblood, Ava Monat, Faith Dvorak and Addison Hochstetler received forfeits.

Storm gets one at home boys quad

CONRAD — South Hardin-BCLUW boys wrestling defeated Dike-New Hartford/Gladbrook-Reinbeck via tiebreaker criteria as part of quadrangular action at BCLUW High School on Thursday.

The Storm came up short in their two other duals, falling 60-24 to Union and 48-27 to Iowa Falls-Alden.

SH-BCLUW won on account of having the most match victories against the Wolverines after the teams were tied at 36-all. Alex Paxson (175), Sean May (285) and Zaden Eggers (132) won by fall; Ethan Lindsey contributed a 12-10 sudden victory against Joshua Utterback at 138 and Beau Towne was a 10-5 winner at 150 pounds. Jayden Muschick (106) and Will Feldpausch (113) received forfeits.

Manning Pfantz (190), Sawyer Kane (215) and Eggers were pinfall winners against the Union Knights; May won by forfeit.

May was a pinfall winner against the Cadets, as were Towne and Wyatt Guiles (157). Alex Paxson added a win by 6-1 decision and Muschick claimed a forfeit.

In girls action, SH-BCLUW edged Union/G-R, 30-24. Ceanna White, Taya Hollingsworth, Cheyenne Simmons and Kailan McEwen all won by fall and Jaelynn Poage received a forfeit victory. Xandra Anderson, Jasmine Bassett and Alexus Umbaugh won by forfeit for the Knights and Jillian Worthen added a pinfall victory at 130.
