MHS girls golf to 5th at Waukee
GRIMES — Natalie Henson’s runner-up round steered Marshalltown girls golf to a fifth-place finish at the Waukee Invite at Beaver Creek Golf Course in Grimes on Monday.
The Bobcats shot a 363, just six back of Ankeny Centennial (357) in fourth. Waukee Northwest won with 330 strokes while Ames was second with a 346 and Southeast Polk third (351) in the 13-team tournament.
Henson shot a 6-over-par 78, one stroke behind medalist Payton Drefke of Ankeny Centennial.
Harper Wilson added a 10th-place medal with an 84, winning a cardback tiebreaker with teammate Gaby Estabrook and Northwest’s Hannah Pettitt.
Hallie Kuhlers had the fourth counting score for MHS at 117. Emma Clawson and Kenedy Lammert contributed non-scoring rounds of 128 and 131, respectively.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet at Bright Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines.
