BCLUW volleyball splits on the road
JEWELL — BCLUW volleyball picked up a straight-set win over South Hamilton as part of a 1-1 finish at a triangular at South Hamilton High School on Thursday.
The Comets, ranked 11th in Class 1A, defeated the hosts, 25-8, 25-7; 2A No. 5 South Hardin dealt BCLUW its first loss of the season in a three-set battle, the Tigers prevailing 25-22, 22-25, 15-12.
Grace Farnsworth had 13 kills in the win over South Hamilton, Virginia Kaisand added six kills and Olivia Peters had five kills. Cassie Nason distributed 23 assists to Comet attackers and Klayre Gallentine guided the defense with five digs as well as landing five ace serves on 21-of-21 serving.
In the three-setter with South Hardin, Farnsworth added 11 more kills with five digs. Peters added seven kills and Kaisand had five kills. Raegan Crawford had a team-leading 10 digs and Nason again finished with 23 assists to go with three kills and three digs.
BCLUW (3-1) returns to action at its home tournament on Saturday, Sept. 7.
