COLLEGE WRESTLING: Hawkeyes blow out Bellarmine
LOUISVILLE — The second-ranked University of Iowa wrestling team won all 10 matches — nine via bonus points — in a 49-0 win over Bellarmine at Knight Hall on Friday evening.
The Hawkeyes had two pins, six technical falls and one major decision while posting a 40-0 advantage in takedowns as they improved to 3-0 on the season.
“A lot of bonus points. That’s good,” said Iowa head coach Tom Brands. “We got Iowa State coming up, and we got to keep a good thing going. We got to keep rocking and rolling.”
Iowa’s 49 team points were its highest dual point total since defeating Iowa Central, 55-0, on Nov. 18, 2016.
The Hawkeyes return to Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 23 for the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series against Iowa State. The dual is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on B1G+.
