DES MOINES — Yuri Ramirez scored a pair of goals and the Marshalltown girls’ soccer team tallied its fourth win in a row, beating Des Moines East 3-0 on Friday night at Williams Stadium.

The Bobcats improved to 10-3-2 with the win and haven’t loss in their last eight matches (6-0-2). Marshalltown’s four-game win streak includes a 14-0 advantage on the scoresheet.

Ramirez scored the first goal of the Friday’s game during the second minute of play on an assist from Stefani Gutierrez.

Gutierrez added a goal of her own 11 minutes into the second half, assisted by Kenya Gomez Reyes, and Ramirez made it 3-0 Marshalltown just two minutes later.

Bobcat sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Valdez Chavez needed to make just two saves on the night to keep a clean sheet. Des Moines East (4-10-1) failed to capitalize on a penalty kick in the second half, missing the net, and Marshalltown tallied its eighth shutout win of the season.

MHS plays its final road game on Tuesday night at Ottumwa, and the Bobcats close the regular season at home on Friday, May 16, with a 5:30 p.m. match against Waterloo Columbus.

Starting at $4.38/week.
