Bobcat golfers dismantle Fort Dodge in dual
FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown girls’ golf team posted the three lowest scores of the day in a decisive Iowa Alliance Conference dual victory over Fort Dodge on Friday at Fort Dodge Country Club.
Natalie Henson, Harper Wilson and Gaby Estabrook all broke 40 as the Bobcats clobbered the Dodgers 162-205.
“After playing arguably the two toughest courses on our schedule in Veenker and Elmwood, it was nice to get a round at Fort Dodge Country Club, which offers a ton of birdie holes and doesn’t quite beat golfers up in the same way,” said MHS head coach Lucas Johnson.
Henson shot a 1-over-par 36 for medalist honors, while Wilson won the cardback over Estabrook for the runner-up spot after both shot 39.
“Harper Wilson played her best round of the year and was outstanding off the tee,” Johnson added. “She was able to take advantage of the short par-4s and capitalize with some strong putting.”
Emma Clawson and Morgan Hilderbrand both contributed a 48 to the Bobcats’ final tally, and Hallie Kuhlers had a 50 to round out Marshalltown’s varsity lineup.
Braxtyn Dencklau led Fort Dodge with a 43.
The Bobcats vie for the IAC North Division title with Tuesday’s head-to-head dual against Ames at Veenker Memorial Golf Course.
