Marshalltown girls take eighth at Alliance track

FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown girls’ track and field team finished eighth out of 11 squads at the Iowa Alliance Conference meet on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

The Bobcats totaled 35.5 points to finish ahead of Waterloo East (31), Des Moines Lincoln (24) and Des Moines North (16). Ames won the team title with 179 points, followed by Des Moines Roosevelt (127.5).

Marshalltown topped out with a pair of fourth-place finishes on the night. Niah Lott picked up fourth for her long jump of 15 feet, 6 inches, while the foursome of Drea Ceren, Millie Heitmann, Mallory Meyeraan and Anessa Morrison teamed up for fourth in the 4×800-meter relay with a season-best time of 10 minutes, 52.45 seconds.

Anela Villarreal finished fifth in the high jump, matching her best leap of the season at 4-8. Grace Christensen, Erandy Ibarra Madrigal, Heitmann and Leia Hernandez claimed fifth in the 4×400 as well with a season-best 4:29.14.

The Bobcats charted another season-best time in the 4×200, as Lott, Kamryn Price, Ibarra Madrigal and Hernandez clocked in at 1:54.89.

Marshalltown hosts its Class 4A state-qualifying meet on Thursday, May 15, at 4 p.m. at Leonard Cole Field.
