West Marshall girls golf qualifies for state

STATE CENTER — The West Marshall girls’ golf team qualified for state with a runner-up finish at Wednesday’s Class 2A Region 4 tournament at Lincoln Valley Golf Course.

The Trojans tallied 361 to trail only Roland-Story’s 355 in the five-team meet. West Marshall had a 13-stroke cushion on Carroll Kuemper (374), followed by Centerville (378) and Van Meter (386).

Jillian Karsjen led West Marshall with a round of 10-over-par 82, finishing in fourth place overall. Rachel Randall finished in with a 91, Natalie Nichols shot a 93 and Sienna Edler added a 95 to the final team tally.

Riley Randall (98) and Addi Benson (128) also competed for the Trojans, who advance to the 2A state tournament May 29-30 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.

East Marshall senior Delaney Ryan, who qualified individually for the regional final, was 23rd overall with a 103 and was unable to advance to state as one of the top six finishers.
