Tim Bell

Long-time Marshalltown High School athletic director and boys cross country coach Tim Bell was named by the Iowa Association of Track Officials (IATO) as the Starter of the Year for girls track and field.

Last season, Bell was awarded the Starter of the Year for boys track and field in a vote of statewide track and field coaches.

Bell coached Bobcat boys cross country from 1981-2013 befre retiring with 25 state meet appearances, three state runner-up teams, two individual state champions, and a 2,391-470 career record against the opposition. He was named the state’s cross country Coach of the Year in 1998, the regional Coach of the Year 15 times and the CIML Iowa Conference Coach of the Year 11 times.

Bell was inducted into the Iowa Association of Track Coaches’ Hall of Fame in 2019. In 2020, the Iowa branch of the National Federation Officials Association selected him as one of its 15 Official of the Year award recipients.
