3 Cyclones on Preseason All-Big 12 football team

AMES — Three Iowa State football players have been named to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team as voted on by the league’s media.

The Cyclone defense was represented on the team by senior defensive lineman Domonique Orange, senior safety Jeremiah Cooper and redshirt junior cornerback Jontez Williams.

Cooper, an El Paso, Texas, native, has seven career interceptions as a three-year starter for the Cyclones. He started all 14 games for ISU last season and was fourth on the team with 48 tackles and two interceptions, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades a year after being named a first-team selection.

A Kansas City, Mo., native, Orange has twice been named honorable mention All-Big 12. He finished his junior year with 24 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss. In the final five games of the season Orange notched 14 tackles, 3.5 of which came behind the line of scrimmage.

Williams, a Starke, Fla., native, led Iowa State and tied for third in the Big 12 Conference with four interceptions last season as he earned All-Big 12 Second-Team honors. Two of his interceptions came in the end zone, while another thwarted UCF’s hopes of a game-winning drive. Williams finished the season with 46 tackles, including two for a loss, in his first season as a starter for the Cyclones.
