Iowa’s Jones and Dunker on Big Ten honors list

IOWA CITY — University of Iowa senior offensive linemen Gennings Dunker and Logan Jones have been named to the Big Ten Conference Preseason Honors List, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.

Fifteen student-athletes from all 18 conference schools were selected by a media panel.

Dunker started 11 games as a junior and was a dominant force on the right side of Iowa’s offensive line that was recognized as a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award in 2024. He was a second-team all-conference honoree, as well as an academic all-district selection. Dunker helped pave the way for Iowa’s offense that rushed for more than 200 yards in seven games last season.

Jones, who started 12 games as a junior, was a first-team all-conference selection and Phil Steele honorable mention All-American in 2024. The native of Council Bluffs, Iowa, anchored the Hawkeye offensive line that allowed just 17 sacks and helped Iowa rush for 2,564 yards, the most since 2002. Jones was named a preseason second-team All-American yesterday by Walter Camp.

The Hawkeyes have had 13 players named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List in the last 12 seasons.

Iowa opens the 2025 season against UAlbany on Saturday, Aug. 30, on Duke Slater Field at Kinnick Stadium, at 5 p.m.

Starting at $4.38/week.
