HILLSBORO, Mo. — Lorenzo Gonzalez scored two goals and Jefferson College defeated the Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team in Saturday’s season opener for the Tigers, 3-0.

The host Vikings tallied two goals within a span of five minutes during the first half and tacked on another goal midway through the second.

Gonzalez scored at the 22-minute mark to give Jefferson the lead, and Borna Bradic made it a 2-0 lead in the 27th minute.

Gonzalez scored again with 16 minutes left in the match.

MCC goalkeeper Tim Straubmiller made eight saves in net, while Jefferson’s Julian Sanchez was tested just one time on a shot from Matoi Yanagisawa.
