WEEK 5: BCLUW football can’t keep pace with Broncos

CONRAD — The BCLUW football team couldn’t keep up with Belmond-Klemme in Friday’s Class A District 2 clash, falling 46-20 to the visiting Broncos.

Belmond-Klemme (3-2, 3-1) scored two touchdowns in each of the last three periods to pull away from the Comets (1-4, 1-3). The Broncos totaled 437 yards of offense, with quarterback Brody Heifner accounting for 291 yards and five touchdowns (208 passing, 83 rushing).

BCLUW had a pair of 100-yard rushers in the loss, as Ethan Shadlow carried 20 times for 114 yards and a TD and Wyatt Gould ran 14 times for 100 yards and a score. Backup quarterback Maddin Helms was 9-of-19 passing for 82 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a score.

Shadlow had four catches for 47 yards and an 11-yard touchdown grab, while Avery Schipper had four receptions for 44 yards.

Beau Towne led the BCLUW defense with 10.5 tackles, while Schipper had seven stops.

Collins-Maxwell speeds away from GMG

GARWIN — Collins-Maxwell jumped out to a 49-0 halftime lead and defeated the GMG football team 55-24 on Friday night in 8-Man District 6 play.

C-M quarterback Cooper Wierson ran for 113 yards and three touchdowns while passing for 111 yards and three more scores for the Spartans (5-1, 3-0), who share the district lead with Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

GMG junior quarterback Ethan Klemesrud had a part of all three touchdowns, rushing eight times for 120 yards and two scores. He was 8-of-17 passing for 109 yards, one touchdown and one interceptions. Jacob Snider hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass, while Jordan Rhodes made three grabs for 37 yards.

Bodie Hutchinson led the Wolverines (0-5, 0-3) with five tackles.
