MCC men’s soccer snaps three-game skid at NIACC

Ran Inosaka

MASON CITY — Ran Inosaka scored the only goal of the match late in the second half to lift the Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over NIACC on Wednesday in Mason City, snapping the Tigers’ three-game losing streak.

MCC (4-8-1, 2-5-0) tallied the lone goal in the 74th minute to slip past the host Trojans (6-4-4, 1-3-3), charting its first win in October (1-3).

“It was a very tough game where we battled hard to get the win,” said MCC head coach Chris Fuchsen.

The goal was the second of the season for the freshman Inosaka. Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Straubmueller recorded six saves for the clean sheet as MCC outshot the Trojans 6-5.

The Tigers return to action with Saturday’s 1 p.m. home game against Iowa Lakes.

Starting at $4.38/week.
