MCC soccer shut out by No. 9 Iowa Lakes

Florent Lefebvre scored a pair of goals to lift the No. 9 Iowa Lakes men’s soccer team past Marshalltown Community College on Saturday in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play.

The visiting Lakers (9-5-2, 6-2-0) didn’t break the ice until the 38th minute on the first Lefebvre goal, but they got two quick tallies midway through the second half. Lefebvre gave Iowa Lakes a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute, and Rashidi Ishibwami made it 3-0 just two minutes later to seal the victory.

Tim Straubmueller made eight saves in net for MCC (4-9-1, 2-6-0), but the Tigers couldn’t break through on the other end in suffering their fifth shutout loss of the fall.

MCC plays again Wednesday at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. The two teams meet at 3 p.m. at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex with the winner earning a spot in the upcoming Region XI Tournament.

Starting at $4.38/week.
