WEEK 6: Redhawks rumble past GMG for Homecoming win

TRAER — The North Tama football team took command of its Homecoming game against GMG with a 30-point second quarter on its way to a 74-22 triumph over the Wolverines on Friday night.
The Redhawks (4-2, 3-1) picked up their third-straight win by pulling away from a 16-8 first-quarter lead with a 30-0 advantage in the second period en route to the 8-Player District 6 victory.
North Tama’s defense held GMG (0-6, 0-4) to 196 yards of total offense and recovered four fumbles. The Redhawk offense needed just 368 yards to rack up the win.
North Tama quarterback Kayvin Morris finished 16-for-24 passing for 161 yards and two touchdowns, and he also carried the ball 12 times for 97 yards and three more scores. Kayler Morris and Maddox Rausch pulled down TD passes from Kavyin Morris, while Dylan Harris connected with Braydon Stickles for a 5-yard score as well.
Clayton Williams had two short touchdown runs and Harris added a 43-yard TD dash for the Redhawks.
Rausch, Williams and Drayke Dvorak had 5.5 tackles each to lead the North Tama defense. Dvorak had two of the four fumble recoveries as well.
GMG was led by Bodie Hutchinson, who had 51 rushing yards on 10 carries. Quarterback Ethan Klemesrud had two touchdown runs and was 2-for-8 passing for 21 yards. Jacob Snider hooked up with Jordan Rhodes for a 55-yard TD pass as well.
Jacoby Woodbury led the Wolverine defense with 6.5 tackles and Caleb Ferch had five.
West Marshall wallops Panorama in district football
PANORA — The West Marshall football team poured it on with a 28-point third quarter to put away Panorama, 51-7, in Friday’s Class 1A District 7 clash.
The Trojans (4-2, 2-1) led 16-0 at the half before busting loose with four touchdowns in the third period.
West Marshall quarterback Blayk Hart finished with 19 carries for 171 yards and three touchdowns, while Kinnick Geers added five carries for 101 yards and two scores. Wyatt Brown’s lone carry was a 63-yard touchdown dash as the Trojans piled up 335 yards on the ground.
Hart was 4-for-14 passing for 103 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Geers for a 55-yard strike. Geers had four catches for 103 yards and added a 53-yard punt return and a 47-yard kick return.
Joe Kielman led the West Marshall defense with nine tackles, while Dalton Eldridge joined Jon Gonzalez and Geers with seven tackles apiece. Eldridge had 2.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery, while Tunner DeRossett had five tackles and an interception.
Panorama (1-5, 0-3) was held to 227 yards of total offense.
Mason City Newman hands Comets their third-straight loss
CONRAD — The BCLUW football team suffered its third consecutive loss, falling 42-7 to Mason City Newman in Friday’s Class A District 2 contest.
The Knights (3-3, 3-1) led 35-0 going into the fourth quarter and finished the game with 385 yards rushing. Alek Egger had seven carries for 100 yards and one touchdown to lead the Knights, who got touchdowns from six different players.
BCLUW (1-5, 1-4) was led by quarterback Maddin Helms, who had 41 yards rushing and was 6-for-14 passing for 41 yards with two interceptions. Ethan Shadlow had the Comets’ lone touchdown on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Wyatt Gould led the BCLUW defense with 6.5 tackles while Vance Hoyt added 4.5 stops.
