Bobcat girls go 2-0 at Colfax-Mingo

COLFAX — The Marshalltown girls’ wrestling team improved to 4-1 with a pair of dual meet wins on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats outlasted host Colfax-Mingo, 42-39, before beating the brakes off Grinnell, 71-12.
Patricia Mateo Merida led Marshalltown on the night, going 2-0 with a pair of pins at 120 pounds. She spent less than a full period on the mat, pinning C-M’s Karoixa Snyder in 1:14 and Grinnell’s Josie Thomson in 40 seconds.
MHS benefitted from four forfeits in the win over Colfax-Mingo as the Tigerhawks won 7-of-10 contested matches. Audriana Walker (110), Merida and Geneva Spitzli (170) earned pins for the Bobcats.
Marshalltown amassed seven pins against Grinnell, coming from Maelee Corona (105), Merida, Leah Graves (140), Madylin McDonald (145), Addyson Lovelace (155), Ella DeMonte (170) and Olivia Wise (190). Faith Sommerlot won her 125-pound match by technical fall, 16-0, over Abby Aguilera.
The Bobcats join West Des Moines Valley for a triangular hosted by Ames on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
