FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown girls’ bowling team rolled its high score for the season in finishing seventh out of 11 teams at the Iowa Alliance Conference tournament on Monday at the Family Bowling Center.
The Bobcats totaled 2,285 to finish one spot shy of the center of the tournament field, just missing Ames (2,314) by 29 pins in sixth. Des Moines Lincoln (2,759) edged Ottumwa (2,726) for the conference crown.
Marshalltown senior Camillya Thomas took second-team all-conference honors for her individual performance, scoring a three-game series of 162-200-193–555 to lead the Bobcats.
The team’s 2,285 total was 234 pins better than this season’s previous high of 2,051.
“That kind of jump speaks directly to the work they’ve been putting in and confirms we are moving in the right direction,” said MHS head coach Dustin Peterson. “Proud of the progress and the continued growth as we head toward the postseason.”
Bailey Damman finished with a 152-186-153–491 for the Bobcats, and Aubrey Webber rolled her top two-game series (334) to start her 156-178-149–483 performance. Ariana Villagomez (129-140-164–433), Ray Massa (117-118-92–327) and Silvana Steenvoorden (90-90-110–290) also contributed for the ‘Cats.
Marshalltown averaged 149.4 pins over five Baker games, well ahead of its season average (123.18), to climb up the final standings.
The Bobcats entertain their Class 3A Region 2 state-qualifying meet on Monday, Feb. 2, starting at 9 a.m. at Wayward Social.
