FORT DODGE — The Marshalltown boys’ wrestling team got beat on its feet by Fort Dodge.

The Dodgers put on a takedown clinic to take down the Bobcats, 47-19, in Thursday’s Iowa Alliance Conference dual meet at Fort Dodge Senior High.

Marshalltown (12-7) lost the takedown battle 28-7 in the match and was victim to seven losses by technical fall.

Fort Dodge, ranked 14th in Class 3A by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, won nine of 13 matches with two pins as well.

The Bobcats earned two pinfalls along the way, with Nicholas Wise — ranked No. 2 at 144 pounds by IAwrestle — flattened Amari McCaleb in 1 minute, 4 seconds, in the 150-pound match. John Schoenfelder provided Marshalltown with its last win at 215, pinning Cael Adams in just 23 seconds.

Yandel Manning racked up a major decision at 138, scoring an 18-7 triumph over Angel Sandoval, and Derek Rivera Acosta earned a 4-2 decision over Hunter Kasperbauer at 132.

Five of Fort Dodge’s seven wins by technical fall came from wrestlers ranked in the top eight of their respective weight classes by IAwrestle.

Marshalltown closes out its dual meet schedule next Thursday, Jan. 29, with an Alliance match at Waterloo East, and the Iowa Alliance Conference Tournament is Jan. 30 at Ottumwa.
