No. 15 Iowa Western sails past MCC men, 80-58
All five Iowa Western starters scored in double figures as the 15th-ranked Reivers rattled off the game’s first 20 points in an eventual 80-58 victory over the Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team Wednesday night at the Student Activity Center.
The Tigers (7-17) didn’t get off the deck until nearly eight minutes had passed and fell to 3-5 in January.
Judah Vignery led the visiting Reivers (18-4) with 15 points, Kris Brown had 14 points, JP Sumo and Jordan Dewaele had 13 apiece and Nate Parras added 12. Dewaele also had a game-high 12 rebounds to lead Iowa Western, which had lost three of its last four games.
Sean Conway came in off the bench to lead MCC with 14 points, and Tristan Christopher added 11. Antoine Glasper chipped in nine points, Tre’Von Coney had eight off the bench, and Tom Guma finished with six points and a team-leading eight rebounds.
The Tigers trailed by as many as 29 points and never got closer than 18 after that.
MCC is back in action Monday with a 7 p.m. home game against the Simpson College junior varsity.
