ISU’s Jefferson on Malone Award Midseason Top 10

Joshua Jefferson

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Iowa State forward Joshua Jefferson has been named to the Karl Malone Award Midseason Top 10. Jefferson is among 10 power forwards in the country named to the list. Former Cyclone Georges Niang was the second winner of the award in 2016.

Jefferson has been Mr. Do-It-All for the Cyclones this year. He’s averaging 17.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game, and is the only power conference player in the country averaging those numbers.

He turned in triple-doubles against West Virginia and UCF, becoming the first player in Big 12 history to have multiple triple-doubles against league opponents in a career, while doing so in the same season.

The annual Karl Malone Award, named after the Class of 2010 Hall of Famer and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, celebrates its 12th year by recognizing the top power forwards in Division I men’s college basketball.
