Bidwell and Smith picked for IBCA All-Star Games

Two of the area’s top boys basketball players are teaming up to play in the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association’s 2026 Pizza Ranch All-Star Games.

Marshalltown senior Kyle Smith and East Marshall senior Jackson Bidwell both have been selected as members of the Northeast Iowa boys all-star team, which will play two games on Saturday, March 28, at Dallas Center-Grimes High School.

Smith and Bidwell represent two of the state’s best 3-point shooters as well.

Smith led all of Class 4A and ranked seventh overall in Iowa with 80 made 3-pointers this winter, while Bidwell ranked 15th in 1A with 63 triples this season.

Bidwell was a part of an East Marshall team that reached the substate finals buoyed by a 1A-best 3-point shooting percentage of 39.2.

Bidwell averaged 17.84 points per game this season to lead the Mustangs (18-7).

Smith eclipsed 1,000 points for his career thanks to a senior season that saw him sink a 4A-best 80 3-pointers. He finished first or second in 4A in 3-pointers in each of the last three years and leads MHS all-time with 228 triples.

The Bobcats finished 14-8 to achieve their most wins since 2008-09 (17), led by Smith’s 15.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Smith ranked 33rd in 4A in scoring average and 11th in rebounding.

The Northeast All-Star squad will be coached by Mason City’s Nick Trask and Dunkerton’s Dan Knebel. The Northeast team will face the Northwest at noon on March 28, and the consolation and championship games will follow at 4 p.m. There will be a 3-point shooting contest in between.

Starting at $4.38/week.
