INDIANOLA — Simpson College runner and Marshalltown High School graduate James Johnson has qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the mile, earning a spot among the nation’s top competitors in the event.

Johnson enters the national meet with a seed time of 4 minutes, 7.10 seconds, placing him as the 12th seed among 20 racers.

The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. It will be streamed live for free through the NCAA’s official online broadcast coverage.

Johnson is scheduled to compete in the men’s mile preliminary round at 1:50 p.m. on Friday, March 13. If he advances, the championship final is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
