Bobcats bag 2 event titles at Nevada
NEVADA — Marshalltown seniors Carter Nunn and Jaxson Hinkle captured first-place finishes to lead the Bobcat boys’ track and field team at the Nevada Invite on Tuesday night.
The Bobcats placed fifth out of eight teams in the Class A division, while West Marshall was fourth out of eight in the Class B grouping.
Nunn won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 42.92 seconds, while Hinkle topped the discus throw with a toss of 147 feet, 8 inches. Hinkle also took second in the shot put (47-9).
Myles Goldman was second for MHS in the 800 (2:12.25), and he was joined by Isacc Ceniceros, Michael Downs and Nunn for the runner-up 4×800 relay (8:48.25).
The Bobcats’ sprint medley relay team of Fernando Garcia, Zane Moore, Elicha Mboungou and Zak Wilder went for second place in 1:45.51, while the 4×400 quartet of Ceniceros, Kieron Sharp, Declan Green and Carson Wright came in third in 3:55.88.
