Cyclones, Bulldogs in Hall of Fame Classic
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Iowa State men’s basketball is bringing the Magic to Hilton South, but this time in December rather than March.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that Iowa State and Drake will be participating in the 2026 Hall of Fame Classic at the T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City.
The Cyclones are slated to play Missouri State on Dec. 18. The game will be part of a doubleheader with Drake and Wichita State playing the other. The 2026 Hall of Fame Classic will mark the event’s 26th year of operation in Kansas City, and its second time to be structured as a neutral-site doubleheader. Specific game times, ticket details and broadcast assignments will be announced soon.
Iowa State and Missouri State will be playing for the first time in program history. The home of the Big 12 Tournament, Iowa State is 20-14 all-time at the T-Mobile Center. Iowa State also played in the 2014 Hall of Fame Classic, beating Alabama 84-74 before falling to Maryland, 72-63, in the championship game.
Drake will be making its first-ever Hall of Fame Classic appearance, while Wichita State most recently competed in the Hall of Fame Classic in 2024.
The 2026 Hall of Fame Classic brings two former Missouri Valley Conference rivals back to the hardwood. Drake and Wichita State played 135 games as MVC foes with the all-time conference record in favor of the Shockers, 92-43. The overall series record also sees Wichita State in the lead, 104-48. Drake is 2-3 all-time in neutral site contests against Wichita State.
Drake beat the Shockers in their last meeting, 53-52, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2021.
