AMES — The Iowa State women’s basketball program has added a transfer guard from the Mid-American Conference, as former Kent State standout Mya Babbitt announced her commitment to the Cyclones via social media.
Babbitt, a 5-foot-8 guard from Papillion, Neb., revealed her decision on social media this week after three seasons with Kent State. She will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Babbitt was one of the top offensive players for the Golden Flashes during the 2025-26 season. She averaged 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 37.4% from the field.
Her performance earned her second-team All-Mid-American Conference honors. Babbitt also established a Kent State single-season record for 3-point field goals when she made 83 during the 2024-25 campaign, shooting 41.5% from beyond the arc.
Over three collegiate seasons, Babbitt appeared in 84 games and made 60 starts for the Golden Flashes, developing into one of the team’s most consistent scoring threats.
Before her college career, Babbitt was a prolific scorer at Millard South High School in Omaha. She finished her prep career with 1,733 points and 333 3-pointers, both school records, and ranked fifth on Nebraska’s all-time Class A scoring list.
Babbitt helped lead Millard South to the Nebraska Class A state championship as a senior. She scored 30 points in the title game and set an all-division tournament record with eight 3-pointers in a semifinal victory.
A two-time all-state selection and three-time all-conference pick in high school, Babbitt brought a reputation as one of the region’s top perimeter shooters when she arrived at Kent State.
Her transfer provides Iowa State with an experienced backcourt option as the Cyclones reshape their roster heading into the 2026-27 season.
