Five Hawkeyes drafted on Saturday
PITTSBURGH — The University of Iowa added another strong chapter to its NFL pipeline Saturday, with multiple Hawkeyes selected on the final day of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Seven Iowa players were chosen in Rounds 2-7, with five of those selections coming on Saturday. The group pushed head coach Kirk Ferentz’s total to 101 players drafted during his tenure and marked one of the program’s most productive draft classes in the modern era.
Center Logan Jones was Iowa’s first player off the board, going in the second round to the Chicago Bears. Jones, a unanimous All-American and Rimington Trophy winner, anchored an offensive line that earned national recognition in 2025.
Offensive lineman Gennings Dunker followed in the third round, selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dunker, a multi-year starter, is expected to transition inside at the professional level.
Day 3 featured the bulk of Iowa’s selections, beginning with wide receiver Kaden Wetjen in the fourth round, also to Pittsburgh. He was followed by offensive lineman Beau Stephens, taken in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks. Stephens was a first-team All-American and key contributor to Iowa’s Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line.
Linebacker Karson Sharar went in the sixth round to the Arizona Cardinals, adding to Iowa’s defensive representation in the draft.
Two Hawkeyes were selected in the seventh round. Defensive back TJ Hall was picked by the New Orleans Saints after a career that included 32 solo tackles and 10 pass breakups in his final season. Edge rusher Max Llewellyn closed out Iowa’s draft class, going to the Miami Dolphins following a senior year that featured 6.5 sacks.
The five Day 3 selections highlighted Iowa’s depth, particularly in the trenches, where the Hawkeyes’ offensive line continued to draw NFL attention. Stephens’ selection marked the continuation of a unit widely regarded as one of the nation’s best in 2025.
