Marshalltown Community College standout Shenell Stewart has officially signed to continue her basketball career at the NCAA Division II level, joining Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pa.

A native of Nassau, Bahamas, Stewart will graduate from MCC this spring before transitioning to the Pioneers’ program this fall, where she plans to major in business.

Over the course of her two years at MCC, Stewart has developed her playing level and significantly improved within the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC). This past winter, Stewart earned third-team all-Region XI honors after averaging 12.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.2 assists per game.

As a freshman, Stewart was a second-team all-region selection after averaging 13.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Stewart, a 5-foot-9 point guard, will leave MCC having served two seasons as a cornerstone of head coach Dylan Longley’s program due to her athletic and academic excellence.

Point Park completed its most recent season with an 8-19 overall record that included a 4-16 mark in the Mountain East Conference.

Stewart had 11 double-doubles during her MCC career, all of them in points and rebounds. This season, Stewart led the ICCAC in steals per game (3.0) during league play. She also ranked ninth in scoring (12.8), eighth in rebounding (7.5) and 18th in assists (2.1).

The left-handed Stewart scored as many as 25 points in a game and had up to 19 points in a single game during her Tiger career. She led MCC in scoring in both of her years in Marshalltown.

Starting at $4.38/week.
