Bobcat baseball falls to Warriors in opener
CEDAR RAPIDS — The Marshalltown baseball team managed just two hits in its season-opening 11-1 loss at Cedar Rapids Washington on Monday night.
MHS freshmen Jalen Logsdon and Larrs Schoenfelder accounted for the Bobcats’ hits. Logsdon led off the game with a single but was picked off, while Schoenfelder doubled and scored on a bases-loaded walk by James Miron on the top of the second.
Washington pitcher Aidan Hubka struck out nine and walked three in the six-inning complete-game performance.
Starting pitcher Aiden Holmgren, a sophomore, took the loss for MHS, allowing three runs — two earned — in two innings pitched. Five Bobcat pitchers combined to walk eight batters.
The Bobcats (0-1) are back in action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader at Des Moines North.
