Bobcat girls eighth in Waukee Invite

GRIMES — The Marshalltown girls’ golf team finished near the middle of the pack in its revisit to the Central Iowa Metropolitan League, placing eighth out of 12 teams at the Waukee Invite on Monday at Beaver Creek Golf Course.

The Bobcats came in with a 383 team total that was just 10 strokes back of fourth-placed Ames. The Little Cyclones led the chase pack with a 373, West Des Moines Valley finished fifth with a 377, Ankeny was sixth at 378 and Waukee was seventh at 379.

Waukee Northwest claimed the team title with a 329, trailed by Southeast Polk (341) and Johnston (365). Marshalltown finished just ahead of Ankeny Centennial (385) as well as Ottumwa (391), Dowling Catholic (401) and Urbandale (437).

The Bobcats were paced by Morgan Hilderbrand, who shot 89 to take 14th place individually. Harper Wilson had a 92, Emma Clawson carded a 99 and Avery Polley rounded out the team scoring with a 103.

Hanna Osgood (107) and Kamryn Price (133) also competed for the ‘Cats.

MHS is back in action today in its own league meet, visiting Bright Grandview Golf Course in Des Moines for the Iowa Alliance Conference tournament starting at 10 a.m.
