Fever finish preseason by pasting Nigerians
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Fever closed their preseason schedule on Saturday with a decisive performance in a victory over the Nigerian national team, 105-57, using a balanced effort and continued progress from Caitlin Clark to build momentum ahead of the regular season.
The Fever controlled the tempo early and maintained it throughout, demonstrating the offensive flow and defensive intensity that head coach Stephanie White has stressed entering the 2026 campaign.
Clark, the centerpiece of Indiana’s rebuild and the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, continued her upward trajectory in the final tune-up. After an uneven preseason opener and a strong bounce-back performance earlier in the week, she capped the exhibition schedule with an efficient outing.
“I thought we played with great energy and shared the ball,” White said after the game. “That’s who we want to be.”
Clark’s availability was also a positive development for Indiana. After briefly leaving a previous preseason game following a hard fall, she returned without limitation and was not listed on the injury report entering Saturday’s contest, easing concerns about her health heading into the regular season.
Clark finished with 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field, two 3-pointers, and 4-of-4 free-throw shooting. She added four assists and one turnover.
Across her final two preseason games, Clark totaled 33 points in just 29 minutes while shooting 7-for-10 from the field, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range.
For Clark, the preseason represented another step in her development after an injury-interrupted 2025 season.
Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 17 points and Damiris Dontas added 16.
Aliyah Boston, returning to action after injury, provided interior presence while the supporting cast contributed to a well-rounded performance that suggested increasing depth and versatility.
The Fever open the regular season Saturday against a Dallas Wings team that handed them their only preseason loss.
