Cole Lindberg

Marshalltown Community College freshman pitcher Cole Lindberg has been named the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s Athlete of the Week for April 27-May 3.

Lindberg, a native of Buffalo, Minn., was a force on the mound last week for the Tigers, making three vital relief appearances against DMACC and Northeast CC. In three appearances over a span of four games in four days, Lindberg struck out four and didn’t allow a run in five innings pitched.

He began his impressive run by silencing the high-octane DMACC offense, pitching a scoreless inning and recording a strikeout, though the Tigers fell 11-3.

Lindberg then proved to be the ultimate closer against Northeast, slamming the door twice to earn two saves for the Tigers. In his first appearance against the Hawks, he tossed three scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out two. He followed that up with another clean inning in the second matchup, allowing only one hit to secure MCC’s 18-17 victory.
