AMES — Former Iowa State standout Milan Momcilovic has withdrawn from the 2026 NBA Draft and will return to college basketball for his senior season, according to multiple reports Tuesday night.

Momcilovic, a 6-foot-8 forward from Pewaukee, Wis., entered the draft in April while maintaining his college eligibility. He also entered the NCAA transfer portal following his junior season with the Cyclones.

The deadline for players to withdraw from the draft and retain college eligibility was 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday.

Momcilovic emerged as one of the nation’s top perimeter shooters during the 2025-26 season. He averaged 16.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting 48.7% from 3-point range, leading NCAA Division I basketball in both 3-point percentage and made 3-pointers with 136.

He helped lead Iowa State to a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a Sweet 16 appearance. Momcilovic earned second-team All-Big 12 honors after starting all 37 games for the Cyclones.

Momcilovic played three seasons at Iowa State and started 101 of 102 career games under coach TJ Otzelberger. He finished his Cyclone career averaging 13.2 points per game while shooting 42.8% from beyond the arc. His 260 career 3-pointers rank among the best totals in program history.

Although Momcilovic is returning to college basketball, his next destination remains undecided. Reports have linked him to several high-profile programs, including Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona and St. John’s.

A return to Iowa State appears unlikely after the Cyclones filled most of their roster spots during the spring transfer portal window.

Momcilovic participated in the NBA Draft Combine and completed workouts for NBA teams before making his decision. He had been viewed as a potential second-round selection in the June draft.

When Momcilovic initially announced his draft declaration in April, he thanked Iowa State fans for their support during his three-year career in Ames.

“The last three years have been the best of my life,” Momcilovic wrote on social media at the time. “The experience of playing in Hilton Coliseum in front of the best fans in the country is something I will always cherish and remember.”
