Hawks’ Hausen joins Grizzlies

Brendan Hausen

IOWA CITY — Former University of Iowa guard Brendan Hausen has earned an opportunity to continue his basketball career after agreeing to join the Memphis Grizzlies for NBA Summer League following the 2026 NBA Draft.

Hausen was not selected during the two-day draft, but quickly secured a chance to compete with the Grizzlies in Las Vegas, where he will look to earn a training camp invitation or additional professional opportunities. The agreement was first reported Wednesday by DraftExpress’ Jon Chepkevich.

Hausen spent one season with the Hawkeyes after transferring from Kansas State. The 6-foot-4 shooting guard arrived in Iowa City as one of the nation’s top perimeter shooters and provided veteran leadership during coach Ben McCollum’s first season leading the program.

Before joining Iowa, Hausen played two seasons at Villanova and one season at Kansas State, appearing in more than 100 collegiate games during his career. He built his reputation as a dependable 3-point shooter and floor spacer while playing for three Power Four programs.

Although his role with the Hawkeyes varied throughout the season, Hausen’s shooting ability remained one of his defining strengths. His experience and perimeter scoring made him a valuable addition to Iowa’s roster during the 2025-26 campaign.

The NBA Summer League gives undrafted players an opportunity to compete alongside rookies, second-year professionals and other free agents in front of NBA executives and coaches. Strong performances can lead to NBA contracts, two-way deals or G League opportunities.

Hausen has not publicly commented on the agreement.

Memphis will open Summer League play in Las Vegas next month as Hausen begins his pursuit of a spot within the Grizzlies organization. The former Hawkeye joins a large group of undrafted players who reached agreements with NBA clubs shortly after the draft concluded.

Starting at $4.75/week.
