AMES — Former Iowa State point guard Tamin Lipsey has signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the Indiana Pacers following the 2026 NBA Draft, giving the Ames native an opportunity to begin his professional basketball career.

Lipsey agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with Indiana shortly after the conclusion of the draft Wednesday night. The deal allows him to join the Pacers for NBA Summer League competition and training camp activities.

Lipsey becomes the second member of Iowa State’s 2025-26 roster to join an NBA organization from this year’s draft class. Forward Joshua Jefferson was selected in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves before having his rights traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

A four-year starter for the Cyclones, Lipsey concluded one of the most accomplished careers in program history. The 6-foot-1 point guard from Ames High School finished as Iowa State’s all-time leader in steals with 314 and established himself as one of the Big 12 Conference’s premier defensive players.

Lipsey averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game during his final collegiate season. He shot 45.9 percent from the field while helping lead Iowa State to another NCAA Tournament appearance.

Before arriving at Iowa State, Lipsey starred at Ames High School, where he earned Iowa Mr. Basketball honors, was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year and helped lead the Little Cyclones to a state championship. He also won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2019 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

Although Lipsey was not selected during the two-day NBA Draft, he quickly found an opportunity with the reigning Eastern Conference champion Pacers organization. His reputation as a steady floor leader and elite defender helped make him a sought-after undrafted free agent.

Lipsey will now look to earn a longer-term role within the Pacers organization as he begins the next chapter of his basketball career.

Starting at $4.75/week.
